| UNICEF Store -
Ms. Jarema and
several students sold candy during lunch periods in order to raise money for
UNICEF. Ms. Jarema later sent a $180 check to UNICEF. If you are

On Dec. 22, R.O.L.E.S and Student Council
held a dress down day
in order to raise money for the Starbucks "Starlight" program.
We, also, collected toys for the same cause. The money and toys were all
locally donated to the Shriners' Hospital. |

The
annual R.O.L.E.S. Christmas Shoppe occurred the week before break- All
students were able to come and buy inexpensive
presents for their family members. Gifts were donated
by the Roosevelt faculty and staff.
The proceeds went to UNICEF along with the money raised by the UNICEF Store.

Elmwood Presbyterian Lodge -
14 students went to play bingo with the elderly. Students also colored
several Christmas decorations in order for residents to hang in their room.
Upon returning, students wrote reflections
about his or her time with the senior citizens.
Here are a few comments:
"At first I thought it would be boring to play bingo with
old people, but it was great and exciting to see smiles on their faces
because we were there." - N. Egnot
"I helped a married couple, they reminded me of my
grandparents the way they bickered about everything. It brought a
smile to my face." -T.

Students wrote letters to the military in Mr.
Ronan's Creative Writing class, which were delivered to soldiers in Iraq and
Afghanistan.

Teachers collected money for a
student whose house caught on fire. Teachers collected around $150.

Two students volunteered at
the St. Patrick’s Cauley Center clothing drive on
Saturday, December 4th.
