UNICEF Store -

On Dec. 22, R.O.L.E.S and Student Council held a dress down day in order to raise money for the Starbucks "Starlight" program.  We, also, collected toys for the same cause. The money and toys were all locally donated to the Shriners' Hospital.

The annual R.O.L.E.S. Christmas Shoppe occurred the week before break- All students were able to come and buy inexpensive presents for their family members.  Gifts were donated by the Roosevelt faculty and staff.  The proceeds went to UNICEF along with the money raised by the UNICEF Store.

Elmwood Presbyterian Lodge - 14 students went to play bingo with the elderly. Students also colored several Christmas decorations in order for residents to hang in their room.

Upon returning, students wrote reflections about his or her time with the senior citizens.

Here are a few comments:

"At first I thought it would be boring to play bingo with old people, but it was great and exciting to see smiles on their faces because we were there." - N. Egnot

"I helped a married couple, they reminded me of my grandparents the way they bickered about everything.  It brought a smile to my face."          -T. Carroll
