EAST: Education Achievement  Students Taskforce

East High School Learn and Serve
2003-2004

Service learning at East High School has clearly grown as a positive force in learning.
When East first adopted a service-learning program, principals, teachers, staff and students were working hard to emphasize academic achievement.  Today, reading and math scores have risen, attendance rates have increased, and students' behavior and attitudes toward school have improved.

Many teachers at East are committed to integrating service learning into their curriculum. The diverse population at East has allowed for many community projects and educational opportunities.  The large ESL population has afforded the opportunity for our students to help one another in learning about diversity, language barriers and community service.

East high supports our district initiatives and has volunteered in many district supported charities and functions.  The goal of East this year is to make volunteering in the school, community and district a priority.  East looks forward to a great year!
