Central's Organization of Outstanding Leaders
Central High School - 3325 Cherry Street, Erie, Pa 16508  Gerald Mifsud, Principal

C.O.O.L. is Central's Service Learning group.  We are made up of students and teachers who are concerned with making our school community and the Erie community a better place.  The C.O.O.L. students work on many projects throughout the year.  These projects include tour guides for Open House.  The students collect money and participate in the Walk for Presque Isle, money raised here goes to Presque Isle State Park and their education center so they are better able to serve the community.  Our students collect canned food for Second Harvest Food Bank and deliver it to Second Harvest around Thanksgiving.  We donated over 800 pounds of food this past year.  The students also participate in Erie School Districts Caring Beyond The Holidays campaign.  Students work to collect donation of clothes and money and then the students go to The Caring Closet and help fold, sort, and distribute clothes to needy folks in Erie.  We have many students who participate in Glow Bowl, Walk America, and Day of Caring.  We have many students who participate in other activities involved in service learning as individuals.  We send a group of four students to Erie's Promise student advisory council.  These students are in charge of helping the folks at Erie's Promise, a branch of America's Promise to help fulfill the 5 promises of America's promise.
The students also get to celebrate their accomplishments by taking a trip to Cedar Point at the end of the year.  Some of our top service learning students also participate in the Erie School District end of year celebration and awards picnic at Waldameer Park.
