Academy students who raised the most money for our annual Beach Walk were able to participate in the ESD United We Stand walk down State Street.  The walk was in November 2001 and started at noon.  All of the schools met at the Veteran’s Stadium and walked down State Street to Perry Square where Dr. Barker, Former Mayor Joyce Savocchio, Mayor Rick Flippi, and numerous city officials talked about Patriotism.  The Central choir provided entertainment at Perry Square and East’s band played music as we walked down State Street.  It was a great, and meaningful event, and the money earned from the $5 United We Stand buttons (Academy students received them for free if they participated in the Beach Walk) and money from our walk will be going to local charities chosen by a student committee.
