Philosophy

The philosophy of the Erie Family Center is founded on the belief that the most effective way to ensure healthy growth and development of our children is to support families and the communities in which they live. This philosophy is based on the following principals:

Families are individually unique and enrich our communities with their diversity; support for families needs to be respectful and reflective of these individual differences.

Nothing will have more impact on a child than their family; when we support families, we help expand their capacities to care for their children.

Every child has the capacity to learn; primary health care and child development knowledge and practices are essential to developing that capacity.

The integrity of the family must be supported and respected; convenience and access to services should support family priorities over system priorities.
